Flipkart, partner of IIM Sambalpur to support small businesses, artisans
Flipkart e-commerce marketplace and Sambalpur Management Institute of India in Odisha announced a partnership to support and promote small businesses, artisans and weavers by leveraging technology, e-commerce platform and market information.
The two entities will leverage their expertise and knowledge to create an operational framework to support underserved communities by helping them build their capacity and increase their market reach. Flipkart executives will actively participate in this program by sharing their operational know-how, market and consumer knowledge.
The company will also explore the opportunities to allow access to the Pan-Indian market for the products created by these entrepreneurs, MSMEs and artisans through its market.
Professor Mahadeo Prasad Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur, said the partnership with Flipkart and the e-commerce industry will help strengthen entrepreneurship by creating opportunities to leverage technology and accelerate growth for small businesses and artisans.

As part of the Flipkart Samarth initiative, the company has partnered with several states across the country, including Odisha.
The partnership with the State Institute for the Development of Arts and Crafts (SIDAC) of the State Government of Odisha helps to integrate renowned Odia brands such as Boyanika, Utkalika and Sambalpuri Bastralaya, among others, in the Flipkart e-commerce marketplace.
